Any interrest in a California moto hanger gathering?

    Well OK cager/walkers too...

Seems to be more than a few motorcycle hangers here on the left coast...got me to thinking. Any of you up to maybe doing a ride/drive up hang gathering? It would need to be located sort of central (maybe the coast, Hwy 1!) for the folk who must ride far either way. Also would need to be asphalt friendly for those unfortunate souls who do not own DS or Adventure Tourers.

    Let's kick the can here.

Highway 1 sounds like a fun ride. I'll ride all day long up and down the coast. And I'm one of those unfortunate souls in need of asphalt friendly....though I did take my cbr across pismo beach to our camp...that was uhhhh "interesting."

I'm definitely interested, but I can't guarantee any kind of availability. We'll have to wait and see on that one.
    - We're never going to survive this!!
    - Nonsense. You only say that because no one ever has.

Hwy 1 is a blast, when there are not too many rental RVs on it. I have little knowledge of hammock suitable (or any other) campgrounds though...takes one day to hit Monterey from Bako so I have not camped it. I'd guess locations etc will shake out as more Left Coast folk chime in. Hwy 1 can be good all year (weather permitting) but it is not the only pavement accessible option here.

Might need some recon work...good excuse for a ride!

Welcome y'all. It will take some time to sort out general logistics for the first West Coast moto hang...you will have time to sort out the calendar. Most of California is very dry with no campfires allowed right now. Some of my favorite camp spots have no water so it may even be wise to push this out to Spring.

BTW I ride an Adventure Tourer to be less limited on routes and destinations but most any motorcycle can handle the occasional shortish dirt road (depending on conditions). I'd suggest we not limit ourselves to 100% pavement to trees.

I'm not affraid of a little dirt. I don't particularly care to camp 5 feet from vehicles driving by!

Good deal, figured as much...a CBR in sand!?

I prefer the regular cager routes to be at least 5 miles away...just opening up the options. My favorite ride to campground has about 10 miles of dirt but I have taken my old R90/6 tourer on MUCH worse. BTW that campground only had 7 spaces taken on Labor Day...Labor Day!

So where might this mysterious under utilized campground reside? And yeah cbr's weren't meant for the beach

It would be a long haul for you No Cal folk but is located on the Kern Plateau N/E of Kernville by about 30 miles as the crow flies. Pretty near Sherman Pass...Horse Meadows campground by Salmon Creek.
