    Incubator 40* with WBBB XLC

I have an Incubator 40* +1oz with the new style suspension and I am having a great deal of trouble getting it tight behind my shoulders so that there no air gap. The foot end is no problem, as the cinch cord keeps it tight, but with no cinch cord on the head end it is not possible to get a seal. I tried triangle thingies with no luck due to the shape of the WBBB. It seems as though the incubator is missing a shock cord cinch on the head end and as result I was forced to use a small binder clip on the Incubator and a CCF torso pad to keep my shoulders warm last night.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I should add that the shape of the WBBB with its tie outs seem to be forcing the incubator to hang too low and thus leaving the head end loose. That and my shoulders are probably too narrow for the full width of the Incubator.

With my New River, I ran some shock cord along the length of the quilt then used a dutch quilt clip to clip it to the ridgeline by the foot and left shoulder.

Not sure if that is possible with an incubator but it did work.

I tried to tie a shock cord from the Incubator head end left corner over the ridge line to the head end right corner but with the tie outs of the WBB XLC moved back this gained me nothing. The foot end is not a problem.

I had the Incubator under my HH Explorer Deluxe with little trouble using a triangle thingie. This XLC is a whole different deal.

Sounds like your quilt is missing the head end cinch cord.

I took advantage of the Labor Day Sale at Hammock Gear and bought a 0* Incubator. I hung it on my XLC yesterday and found the long heavy shock cords that run through the edges of the quilt were adjusted perfectly out of the box: I clipped the hooks onto my hammock suspension, just past the gathered ends, and it was just right. I merely had to adjust the smaller shock cords that position the quilt along the suspension, and snug up the foot and head end cinches. At the foot end, I cinched up only the left side so the right side could ride higher up the foot box. Opposite adjustment at the head end: I cinched up only the right side so the left side could ride up higher.

If yours is missing the head end cinch, you could probably thread one through pretty easily. If not, you should ship it back so they can fix it for you. Of the three brands of underquilts I have, I like the suspension on my new Incubator the best.

    Take it easy,

My 20* fits my WBBB perfectly, pretty much straight out of the box like desmobob said.

But I do have shock cords at each end, I'd drop Adam a PM and see what he says.

I sent Adam (Stormcrow?) a pm directing him to this thread.

After you guys suggested that I was missing a head end cinch cord I searched out some pictures and youtube videos and it appears that this is the issue.

Yesterday I tried to tie a shock cord from corner to corner under the hammock but it would not stay in place and I gave up. This is where the binder clip and ccf came into play. It was only 10C or 50F last night but breezy.

Friday night I had the under quilt pulled all the way down to the foot end in an effort to get a seal. It helped but made for an uncomfortable night with a cold (6C or 42F) wind blowing into the head end and having to sleep deep into the foot end of the hammock.

As for fixing this I can take care of it, I just need to source the correct shock cord and cord locks.

    Thanks for the help guys.

Adam will take care of you. If you don't hear back from him in a day, PM me I will send shock cord, cord locks and I will throw in quilt hooks for good measure.
