I usually face the corner into the wind. I got in the habit while using the Superfly prototype. It had one large door on each end, instead of two. So I got used to setting it up to 'wedge' against the wind and had really good results. Somebody (Grizz?) posted something to the same effect the other day. I think he orientates so that the wind is head-on with the 'doors'. The idea being that the doors will block enough of the wind, but you are still not giving Mama Nature a huge target...like the tarp walls.

I just purchased a JRB 11x10 and been talking to OES and hopefully have a 10x10 straight with a couple extra tie outs on the sides, coming.

Specifically for hanging 2 hammocks side by side.

I have a huge tarp made by Brian, a MacCat custom that has a 13 foot ridgeline and 7 foot sides, that is 13 x 14 feet. I used to use it with my bridges, but I think it is actually way big for that even. It would work great for a double, for two people, though. Like my grandchild and me someday. Mule

No, it's not correct. Thanks goodness there are people here to point out my mistakes.

It just might be with a rising barometer and a falling thermometer, but I'll defer to Youngblood on this one.

the superfly should hold up to heavy wind broadside, never thought about faceing it into the corner with a door closed, that's interesting. wind can shift though, and the panel pulls are pretty useful when the wind is blowing hard directly against the side. imo, they should be standard on a big hammock tarps, but they're not.

You can see the advantage in this pic. There are not very many flat surfaces for the wind to grap and push. What you see is pretty much my full-on 'storm mode' set-up. Can't do it without the side pulls. It has served me well in some pretty high wind environments. Wish there would have been some wind when this pic was taken. Maybe I wouldn't of had to deal with a week of fog.

No, that's the Warbonnet Superfly prototype that I took on the AT. You'll have to ask Brandon (warbonnetguy) what the length is, but I think it is 11'ish. I'm using Grip Clips with this set-up (the current Superflies come with the tie-out points on the wall) so you should be able to do the same with any tarp. Just be sure to use the balloons under the clips, otherwise your tarp will look pretty ugly after a while because the clips want to slide across the sil.

I wonder if there is any advantage to having 2 pullouts as opposed to just 1? Seems like 1 might spill the wind better, but it seems to skew your tarp some. Could be just the picture though.
