I just picked up a couple plastic S biners. #2s are good for 10#s, and #4s are good for 25#s. My scale is not sensitive enough to get a true weight. Do any of you have these, and do you know the weight?

Oh, I've been waiting for someone to ask that question!
They are the same weight! At least, on my scale but it only goes to a tenth (0.1) of an ounce. If memory serves, both were 0.4oz. Not sure of the benefit now.
Trust nobody!
Ah man, i thought you were asking about the 9s. See? Told you I was excited.
Anyway the plastic 9s and the metal ones are the same.
I need to learn to read better. Sorry for the distraction!

Yeah, I saw those too. It is good to know that they are the same weight.

Gee, it's sure nice being a kayak-camper and not having to worry about weight. My boat can accommidate up to an additional 200 lbs of gear if I wanted it to. I have gone somewhat insane and brought along a cast iron dutch oven on some adventures. It alone is 16 lbs.
Hang one of those on your pack and hoof it!!

Hmm, I haven't seen plastic S-biners. I'm wondering if NiteIze did a recall, though. I was told by the guy at Home Depot that they were all pulled. He didn't use the word "recall" (I forget how he explained it) but it sounded like a mfgr thing.
Some "brain surgeon" probably tried to use the plastic ones for climbing.
They were only pulled from Home Depots that had them on end-caps. Some HD's (like every one around Atlanta) have dedicated spaces for the nite ize products in their ropes sections. Those weren't pulled, which means I couldn't get the mega-discounted prices some HF members reported.
Well, I found these at REI. I grabbed the last three off of the shelf. I am not crazy about the color, peach and purple, but I wanted to try them out. They also had the plastic Fig 9s in a 4 pack with eight foot reflective guy lines. I believe they also had the MSR plastic Fig 9 pack.
I am very eager to hear everyone's results and opinions. I tied 25# weight to the #4, and it held fine!
