With the weight of cuben, I see no real downside to having doors. Besides weather, doors a nice to have for privacy if that is a potential issue for you.

Hello Lostagain
I just sold my HG tarp with doors because where I am, (California, Sierra), I am usually in the trees when it rain and I just got tired of dealing with packing and setting up the tarp with doors.
Now I am looking for a HG regular hex tarp without panel pulls to keep it simple and clean.
If you are doing winter camping or like Sargevining said, hanging the tarp high in rain, it is nice to have door. But I feel like it was not necessary for my summer use in the Sierra. Just more fabrics to manage.
Either way, you could start out with doors and downgrade to the one without like I am doing.
Hope this help.
I have, and I am tempted. They seem like the kind of thing both me and the OP are looking for.
But I've caught the DIY bug. I'm approaching a 100% DIY rig right now. I'm actually having the same kind of internal debate the OP is having about permanent doors, but on a DIY MarPat tarp---with a DIY sil coating. Not sure if I want to commit "door deep" to the project, and I;ve got some Coyote sil here that I was going to use to make an insulated poncho with, then decided not to. The hammock has a 10 foot ridgeline, so the tarp probably should have 12 feet, and doors would add to the weight, too.
Decisions, decisions.
I have a superfly with doors... I went with it because you never know... I do most of my stuff in Texas... But you gotta think about random rain storms, at least in my neck of the woods there is no telling which direction the storm will come from... And plus it's nice for light issues as well, hanging in a more public setting sometimes privacy concerns and keeping out the stray flashlight pass, which with cuben I don't know of it helps but my darker superfly it does... Plus it's nice to go to sleep with doors closed and KNOW you won't wake up with wet body parts when you can hear a storm coming... But hey it's up to you... Just because you have doors doesn't mean you have to use them, mine stay tied back quite a bit...
Live, Laugh, Love, if that doesn't work. Load, Aim and Fire, repeat as necessary...

Thanks guys! I've pulled the trigger on the HG w/doors. I looked at the Standard from them without doors, and possibly adding Grizz Beaks, but the cost of the no-door tarp w/GBs was almost the same as the one with it. So, cost wise, it was a wash. I decided (much like GeorgeMaung) that I can always go with a tarp without doors later if I really don't like the setup of the doors.
Thanks again for the input!

I just did half size doors in an attempt to give some added rain protection. I have yet to test the feature though
Sweet. I'm sure you will love it. I agree with what most are saying....with the weight of cuben being so, there's really no reason not to get the doors.
If you ain't havin' fun, you're doin' it wrong
I would always buy a tarp without the doors but either make a door that you can add or buy one from 2QZQ. You can shed the weight when not needed or add to the pack list if the weather looks bad.
