    North Georgia hammock dude

    Hi hammock-folk!

Thanks for having me on the forums. I live in the Lake Lanier area of Georgia, and have a home in a wooded subdivision. We live at the end of the cul-de-sac, and behind us is a nice patch of secluded woods with some great old trees. When the bugs die, I get out there in the back yard and hang on the weekends.

I'm looking to get out into the mountains and do some hammock-camping, so it appears I've come to the right spot. I have a decent amount of gear, and have just recently taken my hammock and tarp to Wyoming and camped out in the wilderness. Being alone, it was a bit freaky, but I had a good time.

Love hammocks. I have a Doublenest, Atlas straps, a decent Eno tarp, bug net, gear sling, and my next step is to learn about better/lighter suspension. Might even look to invest in a better quality and lighter hammock, although mine does the trick pretty darn well.

I've watched a ton of vids, lurked this site for awhile, and would love to connect with some of the people in my area. Hammocks are a great way to relieve stress and tension and a cheap enough hobby. I've also got a mountain bike that I'm building into an adventure touring rig so I can bikepack up north. Need to hook up with some other people interested in the same stuff.

    Thanks for having me!

Welcome to the Forums. I live in north east Georgia, and find myself in flowery branch a couple times a month for their night court. PM me if you want to get up and hang sometime.

Welcome from NE MS, Rob! My 1st ever lay down in a hammock was on a WY wilderness hike. Where in WY did you hang?

Thanks for the warm welcome, all!

BillyBob58 - I'm originally from Laramie, and my dad has a nice piece of property near Tie Siding and the Colorado border in an area called Boulder Ridge. It's a really spectacular place, and very remote.
