Give a man fire and he's warm for the night.
Set a man on fire and he's warm for the rest of his life. Dante
Oh, and here is one of some of the hammocks.
My love for you is ticking clock...
Working on extracting and compiling the video for the trip report, up to and including REV's topple from the turtledog stand.
I used to be a somebody, now I just camp.
I'm still trying to figure out what the map gas and the dorito was all about
Palmetto State Hangers
It was great surprising everyone with my sneaky entrance. What an awesome hang. Mac and I had a wonderful time, and it was super with all the new folks who joined us. I love how big our group is becoming. The next hang at Sesqui will require sites 3,4&5 I think.
Little pigs BBQ friday night was yummy, and afterwards the spirits around the fire to top it off was tasty and helped with an awesome slumber in the hammock. I never heard any snoring.
Saturday breakfast sure hit the spot with cheese grits, spam, spam and more spam, and some coffee to open up the eyes.
The raffle was amazing, our cottage vendors sure did bless us with some beautiful gear, and I won a few especially nice items I will be trying out very soon. Thank you to all the cottage vendors for thinking of us, and going out of your way to send us gear. Your awesome!!!
The saturday night potluck was very good. Lots of yummy food again, burgers, some very tasty chicken from Tato, the bacon explosion surely lived up to it's name, (uummmm), the salads, deviled eggs, key lime pie and iced tea and other stuff I know I am forgetting (excuse me I'm getting old ). Also, thank you Tacoma for the ice cream, I had two nutty buddies and they sure hit the spot.
All and all it was wonderful and we truly enjoyed ourselves. We look forward to next years at Santee, so we can add some swimming, kayaking, fishing and kayak lifting.
Thank you all for making this happen and making it such an enjoyable event. YeeHaa Palmetto State Hangers.....
"No whining in the woods"
It was my first Hammock Camping trip but with the Group it was sooooo awesome..... So glad to meet lots of nice people.
Had a blast meeting folks old and new. Told some tales, saw some excellent setups. More later.
So I went to a group hang, met some great folk, had some great food, witnessed a bacon explosion, oggled great gear and watched a ranger roast. A few of the more interesting things I saw (some of which can't be unseen:
- the aerobics competition...next year maybe it will be more organized.
- men in skirts...did I mention some things can't be unseen?
- watching glaius tumble across the fire pit.
- exploding bacon
- the thrill of victory...and the agony of defeat, the human drama of the raffle
One thing that struck me as odd, I left to visit the facilities, the crotch rocket bike gang of columiba (less than 10 bikes) rode thru and parked near the camp spot, and when I got back 60+ knives were stuck in timbers surrounding the fire pit largely concentrated near men in skirts. Not judging....just reporting.
Hahaha!!! Well, the bike gang just happened to have bad timing as we were having the knife expo at that time. Heck, they might have had some they could have shown off, too.
Here is something we can all feel good about:
