Solo - Killarney Ontario - La Cloche Silhouette Trail - 1 night

So I finally made it up to Killarney ! I only had a night but what an amazing trail ( and difficult ) - I liked it

Left Wednesday morning at 645 am. - but the time I got there , got my permit and hit the trail it was about 1145.
No problem - I had a site about 13KM in - lots of time...

So I strapped on my pack and started my walk. Pack for the night 26lbs with 2 litres water and lots of food - I like to eat.

The first lake I came to ..

Had some nice rocks and boulders to navigate over

Then I saw this little guy getting a suntan

    And up through "the crack"

With an amazing view from the top - where I had a quick lunch

I continued on my way through beautiful wooded areas

    Up some rocky areas

After about 13Km in 6 hours and 3 minutes -
yes that long - some of the terrain you had to take your time - didn't want to slip

I made it to my site for the night

Blackbird with hammock gear quilts and a Mac cat tarp

And the view from the hammock

After dinner I collected some wood and turned on the backcountry Tv for the night

The night temp was around 15° - a little warm - but a nice night with a light drizzle starting around 3/4 am

I got up at 630 - and there was a misty light rain - I knew it was suppose to rain later so I wanted to get back and hiking
The lake was smooth as glass and awesome

So I headed out - a little slower then the hike in - took 6 hour 22 minutes to get out

    A few more random shots

So happy I got out - even if it was just a night - all I can say is it was amazing and I can't wait to head back - hopefully next summer I can complete the loop - 78km.

Awesome trip. I walked that trail loop two years ago. Your photos are sending me down memory lane.

I think that's gotta be the most beautiful part of Ontario to hike in. White rock and turquoise lakes.
But I remember saying to myself so many times, "Seriously? The trail goes straight up this cliff?"

Thanks for the photos. Your second-last one there looks like a postcard.

Wow! Just got back from visiting the Toronto area, some beautiful country you have over there! So many great, non sappy trees compared to my part of the world

Looks like a great campsite and a great trip

    Cheers

Solo - Killarney Ontario - La Cloche Silhouette Trail - 1 night

    Thanks guys

Jayson (and others) wanting to do the loop - I know I'm gonna do a section again (1 maybe 2 nights) - with my son before I venture the loop
But as all my trips - they are usually last minute ( less than a week notice) but I'll post in the trip planning section-

I think when I do the loop I'll have a little more planning time

Still watching to see when the winter hang is - hopefully I can get that weekend off
