    RR question

It's looking like I will be attending graduate school apart from my fiancee for a time, and as I'm already set on the lady front I don't really need any fancy furniture. I'm considering getting a hammock stand and a WBRR for my temporary lodgings because we certainly don't need to spend money on duplicate furniture and frankly, I want to buy a RR.

So, here's the question: What is the shortest total suspension length that will accommodate a RR?

    Re: RR question

I use a Ridgerunner most nights at home. My stand is 13.5 ft long. Suspension length for me is about 4" past the loops where the strap buckles are installed. Ymmv, hyoh

Loki, do you have troubles with your stand and RR, regarding keeping the foot end higher? Or is your stand capable of having a higher end than the other?

Thanks, I am finding the RR to be almost more finicky to get a perfect lay than a gathered end.....Specifically maintaining a 20 degree suspension angle so eliminate a trough, and then keeping the foot end higher to eliminate sliding down the hammock body.

    Re: RR question

I hang bridge hammocks level. If anything, I'd raise the head end a couple inches ( unlike a gathered end). Level works for me.

Edit: clarifying...for the jrb deluxe one could try raising the head 2ish inches... For the rr I'd raise the foot 2-4ish inches.
In the field this is via raising the strap height. On my pipestand (only 1 connection point), I'll tighten a suspension instead.

As for maintaiming a 20* angle, I usually aim for 23-25* before I enter the hammock. And, while the ends are still level.

I have hung comfortably and stable between trees inside of 14' as well. I definitely migrate to the foot end if I don't have it slightly higher than the head end.

I agree,,2-3 inches at least higher than the head end to keep from sliding down to ther foot end. Hang angle at about 25 degrees or so.

I have found that I like the foot end higher by a few inches as well. 25 degrees seems to be optimal. Anything more than 25 seems to turn my normal side sleeping posture into a banana shaped yoga pose.

Thanks guys, yeah the angle I think is pretty important, if it's too high we are back to a banana shape....I get myself into spots where the trees aren't far enough apart and I need to compensate somehow, to make sure to "pull" from both ends enough.
