Hi everyone, my name is Seth Walters, but folks like to call me shutter. I am 23 years young.
I would say that I’ve been hammock camping for about 8 months now. I currently own an Eno DoubleNest with Whoopie Slings, aluminum toggles (for my Marlin Spike Hitch) cut from a crossbow bolt, and 1” 10ft tree straps I made from a pair of small ratchet straps.
I currently attend Appalachian State University in the beautiful mountains of North Carolina, but have a permanent dwelling space in Rock Hill, SC.
I like to hammock camp with a great friend of mine Daniel (hotrod1016) who introduced me to the Hammock Forums. We like to hammock bunk style, which I found isn’t all that common. Thanks to hotrod1016 I was able to attend Palmetto State Hanger’s Fall Sprawl 2013 where I had the pleasant opportunity to meet and become involved with a fantastic group of people.
At the Fall Sprawl I was given the name shutter. I enjoy photography so they found the name fitting. I guess they were right since I took roughly 1500 photos in the 3 days we spent at the park.
I’d like to learn more about hammocks/tarps/suspension, hammock camping, modifications to gear, alternative uses and methods, and about the people who are passionate about hammocking. From what I’ve heard, this is a great community.
I’d also like to say thanks to Squidbilly82 for passing on “The Ultimate Hang: An Illustrated Guide to Hammock Camping” to me at this years Fall Sprawl. I will glean every bit of information I can from it and pass it on next hang.
I look forward to familiarizing myself with the forums and getting to know everyone.
Thanks,
shutter
