UCR vs Woopie sling bury length

What the minimum bury distance on a UCR (not a woopie sling) for a good supervention system?

    Problem
Ok my explanation is going to be a little sciencey so please bear with me. For the suspension system to work, the sum of the forces has to equal zero. Now if a woopie sling has three section of rope going off of the splice. Section A goes to the hammock and Section B and C go the the tree. because B and C are the same piece of rope going around a point there tension should be about equal. This means that they each should bear around one half the tension on A. With rope A going through the bury, then the bury only supports half of the load on the system. On a UCR the bury will have to support all of the load, so it will have to be twice as strong.

    Background Info and Use
I am currently working on a Hammock camping system. I am in college so money is tight. I ordered 30 Ft of 1/8 Amsteel blue online, but I later realized I wanted to make a longer suspension system. I also need some of the rope to make continuous loops for the drip rings. Because at this point I would have to to use four foot woopie slings or order more rope, I decided to make a UCR Being new to the homemade suspension thing, I wanted to get expert advise before I make my gear. I am a bigger guy (250lb) so I Plan on going ten percent more than needed.

    Bury

What I've read is that you use the same bury for the UCR as a whoopie sling.
You leave a tail long enough on the short piece to tie a modified prussick around the running end so if the line slacks then tightens the prussick will pull the constrictor tight. Look here

your thinking too hard. The bury length doesn't change with different slings, it still te same concept, the constrictor holds the line from slipping. It doesn't matter whether the end of the constrictor runs to the tree, or is tied to the running line. Just as long as both ends of the constrictor are under tension.

Plus, more weight = more constricting force = more holding ability.

Here is a vid on how I make mine...You wont need as large of a bury with 1/8" amsteel as with dynaglide. I would say 9-10" bury with a taut-line-hitch to give tension on the tail, will be fine.

The bury should be 72 times the diameter of the line you're using. But using a UCR you should aslo remember to tie a half hitch.

In my experience a 6" bury was sufficient with a whoopie but not with a ucr, prolly need at least 8" on a ucr.
    Good luck,

I got my UCR from Dutch. His come with a prusik at the tail, and it got the job done just fine.

I thought t was the opposite, the thicker the cord, the longer the bury. Hmm...
