Do you guys wash your hammocks? I set mine up down wind of my fire and have a smokey smell, that combined with regular use and I can see it getting funky. do you guys launder your hammocks? If so, how?

My hommock, fulltime, gets laundered weekly along with it's bedding. The hiker gets once or twice during the season, fall thru spring down here. both are setup with continuous loops thru end channels. I just pull the loops and toss in washer then dry in the dryer.
Most of us end up poorer here but richer for being here. Olddog, Fulltime hammocker, 365 nights a year.
I never considered it. My hammocks get aired out frequently enough there never seemed to be a need.
I've washed my hammocks many times, sometimes for smell, sometimes just to soften them up a bit. On gathered end hammocks with removable ropes, I take them off and toss it in. With our current model with the amsteel end channel, I just unclip the carabiners and toss it in. Be sure to wash on cold water, and I also like to use a bit of fabric softener, once in a while.

Camping hammocks - I rarely ever wash them, just air out after every trip.
Home hammocks - When they start smelling "smurfy", I just pull the suspension off and throw them in the laundry basket. I have no idea what happens after that, but they always come back clean and fresh.
Do you wash your underwear?

Would it hurt to wash a hammock without removing wiping in this case para cord? Idk if washing it would degrade its strength or not.

Who cares about showers, gourmet food, using flush toilets. Just keep on walking and being away from it all.
There are times that the only way you can do something is to do it alone.
