Id like ideas on adjustable poles

I know about using hiking poles to pitch a tarp...

However I dont have any nor do I see in the future acquiring any, unless its to use to pitch a tarp.

Ive thought about making some different lengths out of wood...think broom handle with a notch cut in the end to keep the line...

Would like to see what others think or are using...think outside the box...Like an adjustable painters stick for rollers and tall walls...

I assume this is for car camping? If so, you can buy aluminum tarp poles that break apart into a couple of sections. They aren't terribly expensive and are available at most stores that carry camping stuff.

If I didn't have trekking poles I'd probably just pick up long sticks and use those.

If I was backpacking, definetely. Since weight isnt an issue, and neither is size...

If money is the issue, you could either get a pair of the swissgear trekking poles available at walmart, k-mart, and elsewhere, or you could use an old pair of ski poles.

If your car camping and not worried about carrying stuff, I'd look at these.
Replacement fibreglass poles for tents. You could make them any length you want, or leave them full length and make the top tie point adjustable.
