    Slingrings FYI

I have been in contact with slingrings about the strength of their small aluminum rings. Just thought I'd share the info:

    Mike,

In the independent testing that we have had done, the small rings break at 2000 pounds. If you are planning on selling the hammocks, I would recommend having your own testing done as well, though I am putting together a packet of testing information that I will have ready in a little while if you would like a copy of it.
I hope that helps to answer your questions.

If I am not mistaken I think she told me 11 grams. I will have a dozen here Monday or Tuesday & will weigh them. I have a 0.01 gram balance at work in the lab & will post an average, high, & low when they get here.

great, thanks. The SMC rings are 0.4 oz, 11 grams and change.

But a 0.01 gram balance! Whoo whee! There are mere gram weenies, but with that accuracy we can become centigram weenies!

My knife is so sharp it cut the sixth finger off my right hand! On the plus side, Inigo Montoya no longer hunts me.

    SlingRings and garda hitch.

When I set up the ring system opted for the lower priced SlingRings. Two of the rings weighed in similar to one CampNano 23gm biner. My scale is only accurate to +/-1gm. They held me up fine for the couple nights I used them. I'm only #129. So factor that in to their real would strength.

Even at 13.1 still a great deal at $1.65 each shipped, IMHO.

    Gram weenie results!

Got ten rings in today & have the results for the gram counters

    Lightest ring = 12.635 grams
    Heaviest ring = 13.277 grams
    10 count average = 12.969 grams

Seems the the weight may be related to color?!?
The dark colors were heavier than the light colors!
