First Post. First Hike. First Report

I just took a short trip this morning to a place pretty much in my own back yard (technically front yard). Rocky Branch Park here in my little hometown just opened up a trail. Not very long, but long enough for a beginner like me! The wife and I are going to start building up until we can do a Sipsey trip (hopefully).

    Nester:

Welcome to the site..........I remember going to Rocky Branch years ago when I lived in Cottondale. Does it still have the volleyball area? How long is the trail? I have some freinds that live in Brookwood and occasionally get to see. I was by the Branch,. on my way home, two weeks ago and was wondering if it was still as nice as it was when I was there. Might have to plan a family hang one weekend, as soon as the new hammocks get here, now that it is getting better hanging weather. Sorry, its a bad day at work and I am rambling..............may look you up if I get to hang around those parts again!

It's 1/2 mile from trailhead to Camp A (I said B on the vid, but it's A, sorry). From Camp A it's 0.6 miles to the Old Lock 14 Site to the east. To the west is 1.1 miles to the Day use trailhead (I didn't try this one yet). I have lived here most of my life, but hardly go to the Branch anymore. A few years ago I took a few short canoe/flyfishing trips with my son, but I got rid of the canoe. A kayak is on my wish list. I hope to be hiking here some more.

BIGBAMAGUY: you know any more hiking places close to me?

Thanks for the welcome and comments, guys.

Gargoyle: aint that mount a dandy? Gonna modify a bit prolly.

Cannibal: Yeah treenester goes a ways back to when I had a Tree Lounge tree stand for deer hunting and a diy "tree nest" as they called it back then. Funny, huh?

Shug: whooooo budddeeeee!! Been watchin your vids a while, now. You're one talented and crazy feller. I'm gonna get me another mandolin someday. I've been pickin & singin (only) bluegrass gospel & southern gospel & tryin to preach it for years (bout 21 years now). I always like good, clean fun! Laughter is like medicine.

Thanks for that. Mandolin is God's favorite instrument ..... or so I have been told. I love some movin' along and soulful bluegrass gospel.
I am going to send you a link to a video to check out.....
