Material for DIY Net Hammock Help

I have a lot of time on my hands to plan the next project.

So I came up with a DIY speer net hammock for the hot Louisiana Summer. I remember reading somewhere that Youngblood had one. I came across a couple threads talking about it, but no good source. I know there are cheap net hammocks out there, but I want to make my own.

Luckily my bug bivy will fit around it, so no bug problems to worry about.

    Anyone know of any?

I made this one the other day. I sewed the bug netting to the hammock body itself (only on the sides though), and then cut a slit in the middle to make it a bottom entry like an HH. I then ran a ridgeline between the hammock and the netting, and whipped it all together as you would a Speer. It sleeps really well, and no bugs

The link is broken. Is it the green one in your gallery? I can't tell but is that all netting? I'm looking for something to be comfortable in on those 80 degree nights.

It is a ripstop bottom, with netting sewed on top. It is the one in my gallery, in the gallery pic, it has my UQ attached to it.

Here is a fixed link to the thread, sorry

Seems to me I have seen some discussion somewhere about things like military surplus camo nets being used in this way. I can't remember where I saw it.
I may be slow... But I sure am gimpy.

Being in LA you might be able to stop into a fishermans supply shop and inquire about seine net material. You may even be able to get a piece large enough for a hammock free. that is unless you wanted to start with a large roll of cord and hand tie it.

I was totally off base. A long time ago a person posted that they made knotted net hammocks, but after searching and searching I cannot find those posts. Sorry?

I think that was Steene, and one of his threads is here. His gallery also has images.

If you're thinking of someone else, I can look further?

Thanks, I haven't thought about that route. I saw the net hammocks made from scratch. I don't have the patience for that right now. I'll have to give the nets a try.
