I am pretty sure Tala and I are going to do The Pacific Northwest Trail this year instead of the PCT, however if you guys make it to the Donner Pass area before the first week of July I would be happy to put on my trail angel pants and help out.

Just curious, is there an official Data Book for the PCT like there is for the AT? I see a few on Amazon but many I see seem to be dated. I would like to have information newer than Oct 2000.
And no, I'm not going.... for now anyway. But I do like to plan for when I'm able.
I never hike alone. The voices in my head are always with me.
PCT, CDT, ....

But there are a whole lot of other resources as well.
Try google.

Hey if any of you are in the OR/SW WA area, I posted this in the Northwest thread. ALDA-West is hosting a Ruck for future thru-hikers. Lots of good info will be shared.

Forgot to post the URL for my PCT journal which is below. I am a little over a month from starting and so far, so good.
I decided to order a Darien UL from Dream Hammocks which should be arriving this week. It is about the lightest commercial hammock out there. joanwest seems to like her's so I will be testing it out over the next few weeks. I had Randy put in a down adjustable ridgeline so that I can shorten it if I have to go to ground. That lifts the bug net since the hammock is usually a little loose when used as a bivy.
Of course I will try to use it in hammock mode as much as I can, but between the fires and drought, the first 700 miles it may be more a challenge. Still, I'm hopeful.
Happy Trails!

Good luck Mark
I'll be checking into the journal, Thx for the link.
Sure hope you enjoy your new Darien UL, Mark! Neat that you got the modification- will be interested to hear how that works.
Since Mark just provided a link to his journal for the PCT, I will add mine as well: Rambling Hemlock.
Also, here is my blog post about my hammock gear for the PCT, much of the info summarized from this HF thread.
Slowbro and JoanWest aka Rambling Hemlock just finished up the southern section of the PCT and are at Kennedy Meadows. Believe they just met for the first time there.
Good journals if you like to follow along.
