I hiked parts of the NPT this summer with my hammock. Beautiful area! One day I'm going back to do the entire trail.

I just hooked up with a group who started section hiking last year so I am one section behind them, but last month we did the Upper Benson to Piseco section and I hung at Silver Lake and then at Hamilton Lake Lean-To. It was beautiful.

Need to do the Wakely Dam to Piseco section to catch up with the group.

Haven't done it yet, but will advise you to watch out for the bears around the Indian Lake area if you go. The local news reported last week of a bear encounter a woman hiker had that ended up with her stabbing one of the bears with her knife! Afterwards, the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation Department issued a warning about the bears in the area.

Yeah this event mentioned prominently on the NPT Facebook group page. Stabbed a bear. Wow.

Yes, so far Upper Benson to Wakely Dam. Plenty of trees, very remote. Piseco to Wakely Dam has a very tough 10 mile section that has been detoured due to flooding.

Next May I am finishing it up to Placid.

    Have fun -

Yes! There are tons of awesome hanging spots on the NPT.
