    Pillow

I have been using my rain jacket for a pillow, but I think I would like a real pillow that will work with my sleep system. I'm new and would like input for what does everyone else use. Thank you for your time.

I have a down pillow from Wilderness Logics. It has fleece on one side and ripstop on the other, and a line you can attach to your ridgeline to foil pillow escape attempts.
Keep movin', keep believing and enjoy the journey!

I've been using a reversible stuff sac - fleece on the inside - from MEC for a few years - put a jacket or other clothes inside. That works for me. (Mine is an older and cheaper version of the (improved) current model.)

Something similar would be an easy DIY project if you have a good box of scraps.
Recently I've gotten a couple of inflatables :
Klymit Cush- I don't 'get it' - it needs to be folded in three to use as a pillow. Perhaps it would work in my stuff sac?
Exped Pillow- Reasonably comfortable - I used this inside the fleece sac as well.
    Pricey. Non-slip on one side.

Somehow I don't feel the need for much of a pillow when hammock sleeping vs on the pad in the tent. I think clothes in the stuff sac will do the job for me.

The Cub and the Bear pillows are the original hammock pillows. They are filled with high quality climashield insulation that is firmer than down that compresses under weight and will add warmth for those cool nights. Both have or original keeper cord design that we first introduced over 4 years ago. http://www.arrowhead-equipment.com/a...originals.html

I use my down jacket. It came with a stuff sac that turns it into a pretty good pillow.

I use a closed cell memory foam travel pillow from Wal-Mart. I'm a side sleeper and have to have it.

I use a down hammock pillow from Hammockgear. It works very well with a hammock, but not so well in a ground set up (it flattens out to much in a ground set up)

I have a nice pillow that I got from either Wilderness Logics or UGQ, sadly I cant remember. pretty sure it was WL. anyway, its more of a neck pillow and has the keeper cord on it, which is REALLY handy for bathroom breaks in the middle of the night so it stays close to the hammock!

How compact are those pillows when stuffed in the sac?

I have a Wiggys pillow that came with a sleeping bag - very comfy and firm, but too much volume to carry.

I have one of the stuff sacks that's lined with fleece so you can reverse it, stuff it with clothing and use it as a pillow. That works OK but still doesn't quite do it for me. Then, I bought a Grand Trunk travel pillow that is WONDERFUL, but fairly bulky and heavy. It has a perimeter draw cord that lets you adjust the firmness/thickness. This week, I tried the Graham FlexAir inflatable/disposable medical pillow on a three-day trip. They are VERY light, take up a tiny amount of pack space, and extremely inexpensive, but just not near as comfortable as a "real" pillow.

For backpacking, the FlexAir inflatables or the reversable stuffsack are running neck-and-neck (is there a pun there somewhere?) for me at the moment. For canoe or car camping, the Grand Trunk will definitely go along.

    Take it easy,
