    Things I learned today

How to thread a thread injector and wind a bobbin

That I can actually operate said thread injector

That I needed some material and stuff to work with

That I have no idea what I'm doing in a fabric store

That sales people really don't appreciate you answering their questions with a blank stare because you don't know what you're doing in a fabric store

That sewing stuff can get a tad expensive when you're starting from scratch (even at Walmart!)

That I might actually get the hang of thread injecting

That I should have gotten a needle threader while at the fabric store

That I really, really need to make an appointment with the eye doctor

That thread injecting has to be a lot easier in a household without three cats

I found it easier to thread the needle on the sewing machine from the back with the eye of the needle between your thumb and forefinger in the front if that helps. The thread is funneled into the eye by the thumb and finger. I have such a short inseam that I usually have to hem my new jeans. A single guy has to do what he can.

That was great - thanks for the laugh.

I can appreciate the blank state in the fabric store ... just experienced that myself today! I went in to purchase a Loop Turner so I could make my first try at some amsteel whoopee slings and continuous loops.

I walked into the local combo craft/fabric store and realized I had no idea where to even begin to look for it. A helpful employee saw my very puzzled deer-in-the-headlights look and asked me if she could help me find something. When I said Loop Turner I think I mangled the name as she gave me a "huh" look to which I had a nice blank state coming right back at her. Fortunately I had the foresight to look it up online on my phone and had a picture of it. When I showed her it the "ahah" moment arrived and she took me right to it.

Could be worse...they think us guys are alien creatures.

My most useful tool is reading glasses.

But you still can't keep from loving them.

She's probably still wondering why you wanted something used to turn spaghetti straps on lingerie right side out.

The loop turner is made to be used instead of the bobby pin in this tutorial...http://craftyendeavors.blogspot.com/...-loops-or.html

Thread Injecting tip from someone who is just a few months ahead of you:

    Sew barefoot.

You get better control of the foot pedal.

    OK. That's all I got.
