Between BB and the XLC is more than just size. The XLC has a stow away bugnet and a stow away top over. Where as the BB does not. It only comes with a 1/2 zip. The other thing that the XLC has is a lower bugnet for better views.

Thanks Nighthauk. For some reason I didn't think of searching the forums before emailing WB. Did it a little while ago and of course found a ton of stuff - including mention that what they list as a setup video for the XLC is in fact a detailed description of the differences you described. I like the removable bug net, I think. Wondering if that makes the footbox floppy. I wonder if I'd ever use the top cover. The extra visibility looks sweet. I was concerned that the netting vs. the 1.7 would be an issue since I'm not gentle with my gear, but a few members mentioned they too were concerned but it was a non-issue.
I'm wondering if the extra length would ever be an issue, outside of needing to keep the extra foot in mind when selecting trees. And of course when I'm looking at the setup, I immediately thought "Oh, some Dutch clips would help right there..." **** you, Dutch!! What did you slip me at the Fall NEHHA?? Looks like Quilt Hangers are a gateway drug...
Just ordered my XLC DL Multicam. Now the wait begins...
In the meantime, I can mull over my next decision. Go with the camo Superfly, or eat the weight penalty and get that in multicam as well. It's sweet looking, but more than double the weight. I want to get more into backpacking and trying to trim weight both from my back and my waistline. An extra 2 lbs....
nice! read your post, it sounds like you already know which tarp you should get.
function over form my friend.
go Sox!
...Tell me no lies, make me a happy man ...
Go Sox indeed! And yeah, I'll be grabbing a sweet camo SF, and save the weight.
Need? Are we supposed to NEED stuff? I've always thought that "want" was enough justification.
I recently saw someone's signature that said something like "contentment is wanting what you have, not having what you want". I couldn't help but think "well hey, if I have what I want, I'll want what I have, and it's true, I'd be pretty content!"
I may be dumb, but at least I'm ugly!
I've done so much, with so little, for so long, now I can do anything with nothing.
It's not peer pressure, it's just your turn.
As long as you are wanting/thinking about/dreaming of a tarp to go with your new WBBB XLC, take a look at Hammock Gear's Cuben tarps - especially the 4 Season model (or if you want 'bigger' - the Winter Palace)... HG offers more tarp options now, including a camo print - and a 12' ridge line to better go with that new XLC.
I almost drool - well, actually I do drool, sometimes - when looking at them!! A camo Cuben tarp is definitely on my 'want' list - but for now I have to simply dream about it while saving up the pennies (but it probably won't happen before my PCT thru next year )... If (or when) you get into backpacking, your body will definitely appreciate the very light weight of a cuben tarp!
Anybody want to donate one to me? - I promise to send photos of it!!
Enjoy the 'addiction'!!
Happy trails!!!

Do you enjoy being an enabler??
Those are some sweet tarps - but WOW the price. Are they THAT much lighter than the silnylon tarps? Looks like the Winter Palace matches the dimensions of the Superfly, so I'd want to compare apples to apples. It's more than double the price. How sturdy is it compared to silnylon? Are there downsides to cuben fiber?
EDIT: I looked closer, and yeah, they ARE that much lighter. Wow. Less than half a pound.
Okay, I been looking at up grading to the safari but also look at the WB xlc. My height is 6' 1'' @ 275 and was wondering how was the fit different?
Peace
