Sagging hammock ridgeline - HH Hyperlite

I searched but didn't find any threads on this problem. I have a second-hand stock HH Hyperlite Zip - no mods. The ridgeline sags regardless of the different setups I have tried. The hang angle has to be <5-10 degrees in order to make the ridgeline taut. I have a HH Explorer and have no problems with the ridgeline so I don't feel it is how I am setting up the Hyperlite. Current ridgeline does not appear tampered with (still glued knots). Perhaps the ridgeline has been stretched out? Attached is a picture of the ridgeline end.

What I would like to do is replace the ridgeline with my own adjustable ridge line. I have seen postings on continuous ridgelines but probably don't have the right materials on hand to do this. I leave for a trip to the Southwest in less than a week and would like to have this ready to go. I do have 50ft of 1.75mm Zing-it and paracord...any suggestions or ideas?

Sorry can't give directions but I am sure if you email Hennessey they will give you directions to replace the ridgeline.

Don't use the paracord. Do you have the flat whipping or the round whipping?

Dutch, looks like it is sewn flat (see photo). Is this what you were asking?

Yes it is. Before you change out the ridgeline, really try setting it up tighter. I think any almost any ridgeline can be made tight unless it is really wrong. If you start to strain the bug netting stop.

This is not recommended for hanging but lets see if the ridgeline is truly too long. Put the hammock on tight, completely tight from tree to tree. Does the ridgeline get tight then. If not stop and we have a problem. If it does loosen up the suspension by say 5 inches on one side and sit. Is it tight or can you twist it with your fingers? It is perfect when you are laying in it and you can twist it a little.

please excuse the possibility of my gross ignorance

i thought that the fixed ridge line was built into the HH products to provide a correct hang when it is pulled tight

at least, that's how mine works

& i'm real happy w/ the way it sleeps

it aint WRONG, just may not be RIGHT

    just a ponderment

There was a time when I argued with you and when I Thru'd that is the way I did it. Tight as I could possibly make it. Then I laid in it for five minutes to let it stretch and tightened it again. But people started breaking their ridgelines. As long as it sets the sag by the ridgeline the distance is the same between the ends. Anything more than that puts unnecessary strain on the suspension and ridgeline IMO. YMMV though

The ridge line on hammocks with integrated bug nets ha a Very Narrow range of adjustment as it keeps the netting from being stretched too much and tearing..I also find it hard to believe the ridge line is sagging no matter how you hang it...unless the ridge line is 100% of the hammock length! Remember HH are mass produced so you could have a very long stock RL..you could always measure it and see...And remember the longer the RL the less sag the hammock has and The tighter the bugnetting will be. I have the Exact Same Hammock so i'll measure my ridgeline and let ya know what the length is..mine is right on.
