UQ & TQ for Clark NX-250

I am interested in upgrading from (rather nice) sleeping bags, a Thermarest, or CCF and a SPE to increase comfort and reduce pack volume and losing about of pound down to get down to temps around 30° or so for three season use in my Clark NX-250.

I am leaning towards a full length UQ. I believe the Clark Weathershield should extend the comfort range of the TQ. Does a 20° UQ and 40° TQ sound like a good combination?

The Clark is 50" wide, so should I get the TQ in a 50" width?

    Hi Brian,

Sounds like a good combination to me for 30*, the 20*F UQ will certainly help bump the 40*TQ a bit lower considering your hammock setup. You may want to consider an 1 oz of over stuff as additional insurance on the bottom end. We have sold UQs to quite a few Clark owners so you should have no issue fitting the UQ to you hammock. As for the TQ the width of the TQ is not related to the width of the hammock as it is designed to cover you. 50" will cover slim to average builds with the 55" wide covering med and larger builds... Hope that helps...

I am considering the uq for my nx as well what is the
Difference from the duck down and goose down?
The one I am looking at is the 3/4 0 degree
Dose the goose pack smaller from the web site it looks lighter
    Any help would be great.

    700GDD vs 850 GGD

We offer two types of down fill for your choice, a ARD+ 700 Grey Duck Down (GDD) and a ARD+ 850 Grey Goose Down (GGD). Both the GDD and GGD are independently tested by IDFL for fill power, both are ARD+ treated down, both will keep you toasty warm and last a lifetime with proper use and care. The 700+GDD will keep more $$$ in your pocket but put a little more weight in your pack, car, or canoe. The 850+GGD will lighten your pack load but it will also lighten your wallet. Both compress very well with a 850 quilt packing just a wee bit smaller due to slightly less down being needed for a given temperature rating.
