I am new to this site and I've got the hammock bug. I currently have a store bought hammock I purchased from Cabela's years ago. I have only using it a hand full of times. It was a Cabela's brand when I bought it. Now, they don't have the 'same' product. However, they do carry Grand Trunk. My best guess is that Grand Trunk was the initial manufacturer and Cabela's put their name on it because looking at how the GTs are made my old hammock looks identical.
The suspension is factory channel sewn ends; large braided rope with heavy 'S' hooks and same size knotted rope for tree wraps. I'm planning on upgrading the suspension to whoopie slings and adding an adjustable ridgeline coupled with 1"+ webbing tree wraps with toggles.
By the research I've done on adjustable hammock ridgelines I need 100-105" line. I plan on DIYing the whoopie sling with AmSteel 7/64" to get the proper RL length I would double the raw AmSteel. So, seventeen and a half feet of Amsteel, correct?
