    Newbie Question

Slept in my hammock for the first time last night. Only made it until about 2 am. I woke up with a lot of pain in my shoulders. And today my collar bone and neck are sore. The hammock is an Eno Double, I did pretty good at getting flat with a diagional lay. Though I am a pretty big guy 6'3" 325lbs and I have really wide shoulders. No matter how I tried to adjust I couldn't stop the squeeze happening on my shoulders. Other than that I was very comfortable. I was thinking tonight I would try to put a pad under my shoulders. Any other suggestions? I would love some feedback on how to get a little more comfortable. Just FYI I am hanging in the house with just some blankets on top. Thanks for the help.

I had the same problem when I first started. Now I am not close to your size. I am 5'8" and 150 lbs, but I found that if I get the nice comfortable flat lay on the diagonal then just roll a little to one side I don't wake up sore.

play around with the hang angle and sag of the hammock. also a longer hammock might be more comfortable at your height.

make absolutely sure that your head end is hanging lower than your foot end. I learned this the sore neck way.

Good point, I forgot that I also put the head end lower than the foot after reading on here that helps. It did seem to help.

When you find your optimal hang angle/sag you can put a ridgeline on it to get the same setup everytime. You can also use a string level on your ridgeline to help zero in your setup. After a while you will probably just eyeball it, but these tools can help you dial it in.

Reset the hammock last night and it was better for sure. Not perfect yet, but better.
    Thanks for the help.
