    DIY Asym Tarp

Greetings all! Got some "Deal Bin" fabric from Scott at DIY Gear Supply and decided to make an asym tarp from it. It's a coated ripstop in a brown color.

I followed the DIY Asym Tarp directions : http://www.backwoodsdaydreamer.com/diy-guides/tarps/

This is basically a rectangular tarp for minimal coverage in milder weather. I made this one 160" long instead of the 132" on the instructions as my hammocks are 11'+ long.

The great thing about this tarp is it took less than 2 hours to make - hem all the way around and make pull outs - your done! No worrying about a ridgeline. I used 1" grossgrain and 3/4 beastee rings for the pull outs.

    Weight is 13.4 oz.

I got in a fight one time with a really big guy, and he said, "I'm going to mop the floor with your face." I said, "You'll be sorry." He said, "Oh, yeah? Why?" I said, "Well, you won't be able to get into the corners very well."

Thank you. I have to slip my projects into lunch time or late at night. I've always wanted an Asym tarp for milder weather. Now if I can just find time to make that rocket ship!

Nice, I like the corner pull out detail.

The first time I used my newly made minimal coverage tarp in the rain, I learned I had to place my shoes under the hammock and not where I normally step into them. Took them a couple of days to dry.

Thank you. I make all my tarps with the pull outs like this. It's very strong and a bit lighter than using oxford nylon.

Coverage - I believe this is exactly the reason these types of tarps need to be placed very low to the hammock to maximize the coverage.

yeah man looks great. I'd like to see more pics if you could. I"m curious to see how much coverage you get with that.
