HH monsoon vs. typhoon

Has anyone here ever had a chance to compare both tarps side by side, other than the monsoon having a bit more of a hex shape on the sides, what is the usable difference.

As far I can see bmwrider...there's not a great deal of difference.

Dimensions are slightly different. (5inch)
Different colour option avaliable with the 70d monsoon.
Slight weight savings with the 30d models....
Other than that,they're both identical, tie outs, shape, etc, just terrible pics on
their website. They really should have a side & front view.

That said, when there's a chance of storm on the weather chart...I still grab for my
little Typhoon tarp & shove it in my pack.

I do not have both of them either. I have the typhoon which I put my son under. I can tell you the over his amazonas mosquito hammock he has plenty of room and when I throw the doors on and pitch it low almost no wind gets up in there. Looking at he specs I would call them a draw on coverage. I know not what your looking for but just my $.02

I've also been interested in these two rainflies, and hadn't noticed the cut difference until this post.

From the website, it appears that the Typhoon has one less tie-out than the Monsoon.

But the story might be different on the other side, not shown in the pictures.

For the Typhoon owners, is it a tight fit, or a just-right fit? Sorry for the hijack, but I would like something that fit not necessarily snug, but not palacious either. I'm not claustrophobic.

Well it can't be just a tie out that makes them different.

Typhoon is also 90x120" vs. monsoon 85x120"

Ok now I am thinking about the HH hex as well or any other tarp for that matter.
The plan is cold weather, only a little winter but mostly just cold months around the middle of winter, like late fall early spring.

How heavy, bulky and expensive is it to go with the HH hex plus doors or other models that are bigger than the typhoon and monsoon.
