    R Value ??s

I have a self inflating camp pad with an RV rating of 5.8. In theory; how cold would I be protected to if this were the only insulation I would use?

That all depends on if there is or is not a heater in the RV

On 1/2" closed cell foam pads (Walmart pads), I've been down to 25* and others a lot lower in temps.

Sorry, I don't know about inflateable pads.
Enjoy and have fun with your family, before they have fun without you

I think there are about 5 dozen varying factors that contribute to overall temp ratings as well as personal preference. What clothes are you willing to sleep in, hat, baclava, socks, down booties, what top quilt are you using, what tarp configuration are you using, is it a full length pad, do you sleep cold or hot, etc, etc...

I know there are many factors. I was looking for a very general answer. I know it's all trial and error. Typically I tent camp when temps drop to the 40's or colder with a 20+ bag (unzipped as a top quilt) and this pad (full length) and I usually wake up a few times sweating. I'm a hot sleeper.
