    looking for bulk!

I work for a small university and the Outdoor Rec director is hoping to host a hammock making workshop next week and follow it up with a trip to Kyle's landing for Fall Break hang/camp out. He's had a bit of an issue with getting enough 1.9 ripstop. I believe that DIY gear supply is low on product at the moment. He's looking for about 80 yds of 1.9 ripstop in whatever color he can find, so long as it's subtle (olive, coyote, black, gray, etc.) Does anyone have any leads for me to pass on? Thanks!

Maybe Magnafabrics, but some have had issues with getting exactly the weight of material they ordered. Pricing is certainly very good.

Have you run the cost points on Tableclothfactory.com blanks? Those would reduce some of the hemming around the edges, and the actual cutting of material, but there would still be plenty of "assembly" required. Injecting end channels, making/installing continuous loops, suspension straps, whippin' n Whoopies ect.

I know there is at least one more source, that has been linked here in the past. Maybe someone else can help with those.

I've purchased bulk ripstop and netting from this company: http://www.topvaluefabrics.com/

I worked with Stan Hunter. It was the cheapest I could find bulk without ordering directly from China. they had minimums around 100 yds. Also, for the ripstop they only had black in 1.9oz.

Call Magna fabrics and see what they have on hand and if they can get it to you in time. Telephone: 201-693-2281

You could also use nylon or polyester taffeta.

+1 on Magna Fabrics.. call the number listed above, the guy's name is Larry.

Although.. looking at the site.. looks like they're out of most 1.9 pure finish

WOW thanks folks. He's looked at the crinkle taffeta blanks, but wants to use the ripstop. I'll pass this on immediately! You guys are swell!

His loss. IMO taffeta makes a far superior end product unless you are a rabid gram weenie in which case you would not be looking at 1.9 ripstop. Taffeta feels much smoother and nicer against the skin. That's why so many commercial manufacturers use it.
I may be slow... But I sure am gimpy.
