    Michigan - Manistee River/North Country - 10/11/13

It was just Vampiresmiley and myself that made the hike, but we had a great time cruising the trails. A whole heck of a lot easier without 12" of snow!

Thanks for taking us along on the adventure! Great to see the Fall colors starting to pop out. I really liked the river camp site...great views.

I think it's an Eastern Hog-Nosed Snake. It was seriously tiny, I had the macro on and almost touched it with the lens. Michigan only has one poisonous snake, the Eastern Massasauga Rattlesnake, and they are extremely rare.

Good thing that it isn't poisonous! I just don't like them, poisonous or not! They freak me out for some reason!

Looks like you had a great trip. The weather in Northern Michigan was perfect last weekend and the colors were starting to turn. I recognize that spot from the first night. I hiked up there from my campsite on the north side of Eddington Creek this past spring. Makes me want to get back up there for one more trip this fall when I can find the time
