    First homemade setup

Well, I finished this setup a couple of weeks ago and just hung it out for the first time. I think it all turned out great for a first time.

Here's a shot from the foot end.

I know you can see much of the hammock. It's 110" long by 60" wide. Based on recommendations from fellow members, I doubled the bottom of the hammock. The material was only 48" wide, so I doubled that section and then sewed on 6" strips on each side to bring it up to the 60" width. I used 1 1/2" seatbelt type straps 12' long with a beaner and desending rings as the rigging.

The tarp is based on the blackcat directions on this site. Thanks for those. I think it hangs well with good tension on the sides. It's 144" by 120".

Here is a shot from inside. It seems that the side are too slack in the hammock. I am going to mess with the wrapping and see how I can change it. But, I, all 6'2" of me, can get flat in this thing. I can't wait to get out in the woods with it.

The stuff sacks for the hammock and the tarp.

Thanks everyone! I have never been in or slept in a hammock before, so I am going on my gut instinct for a lot of thing.

Stretch, it just seems that the sides are very slack and the mid area of the hammock is under a lot of tension. Now the one thing I can say is I can get flat. I think that's the main objective. The way it feels is the either my feet or my head could pop out the side without much effort. But, like I said first time.

Your double layer on the bottom will give the edges a different feel. I you whipped the ends (instead of channels) you might try pulling the outside corners father out in the whipping. That should tighten up the edges aand may equalize the feel between the edges and bottom to some degree.
I may be slow... But I sure am gimpy.
