    Questions on finishing my UQ

I just finished sewing up my UQ and have a few questions on the finishing touches. I figured where else to ask than the wealth of knowledge that is hammock forums. The quilt is a 3/4 length with 3 inch curved baffles. The quilt is differentially cut with darts. There are 8 chambers running lengthwise with 4 inches of loft each. Made it for winter hanging. Total weight as of now is 28 oz.

First, I'm thinking of the suspension using channels with continuous shock cord or a combo of zing-it and shock cord. What would be the benefit of each? If I do go with just shock cord, what is the best knot for tying the two ends together?

Secondly, grosgrain loops for the hammock tie outs or not? Pros and cons?

Thirdly, would using elastic ribbon on the ends in place of shock cord and cord locks work?

Lastly, what would the temperature rating be for this?

Any and all suggestions would be appreciated and I'll post pictures as soon as it is finished. Thanks.

I would (and have) use just shock cord. I didn't bother with tryout because I never tie mine out. I would do shock cord for the ends as well so you can adjust and vent if you new to. If you have 4 inches of loft you should get close to zero. I think dream hammocks has a loft rating chart on his website. I would check there.

Here is a chart that may help.
I just tie a figure 8 knot as I end up shortening and lengthening my suspension for different length hammocks.

I used shockcord and grossgain channels on the side. I joined the shockcord to itself using a fishing knot.

I am unsure if it is strong enough to support the UQ properly. That is my first thought.
    Shockcord is proven.
    Carry forth.

If you mean the head and foot ends, I would use shock cord in a channel so that you can adjust it. if I am understanding you correctly you are talking about elastic ribbon like on the cuff of a sleeve. it will do what you want it to, I would imagine, but you will lose the ability to adjust the snugness of the fit.
