I'll definitely be doing some hiking with the snowshoes off trail, but we should have the main one packed down pretty good later on.

Here is the last list I made . Who knows how it'll turn out . I always figure if there are more then one on a winter hike that's a success . Im bringing a young friend of mine who is on neither list but wants to try winter camping .
Top half of list BCUSA ,middle goes both ways , bottom Hammock Forum .
Rough . Probabley some will drop out depending on temps on the 10th , but pretty good turnout .
Latest list .
Here are those that are committed ( as far as I know ) to the Huron Deep Freeze . If you have changed your mind please PM me and Ill remove you from the list . There are a number of guys that are partially committed but not a 100% . Ill list those as they jump in .

I don't think I can get a direct look at the West Hoist Lakes lot in the next couple days. I can tell you there isn't all that much snow, really. It's cold and powdery now, but I'm seeing that this weekend we're looking at mid 30s and a good chance of some kind of precipitation (I won't say the R word). I'd expect the road, and even the lot to be clear. My two cents.
-12 right now here in Battle Creek. Did you hear that, Al Gore! -12!
I'm 110% committed! Arriving 11PM Thursday. Planning on setting up just N/NW of Byron Lake around midnight or so. Will move my camp once light to accommodate the group (never know what exactly you chose in the dark!)
12° my first night, so I'll need to pack for that. Next few days look pretty tame as forecast confidence is really starting to improve and most services agree within a few degrees:
Friday: Snow showers 30°/25°
Saturday: Snow showers 35°/23°
Sunday: Chance snow 35°
Not bad, but I'll need to get back out MLK weekend since this is more of a "spring outing"! Looking forward to meeting everyone!

I'm planning on getting there and setting up before dark Thursday afternoon. Sure hope Vulture's right about the parking lot! So if you see a Lincoln Town Car, just follow the snowshoe tracks.
I'm wondering if snowshoes will even be necessary now...my worst fear, as I was looking forward to needing them.
Not to be a buzzkill but this could become a worst-case scenario with freezing rain/rain/wet snow approaching 40° Please be prepared!
Keeping a close eye on the situation since noone knows for sure what will happen. Lots of uncertainty from NWS at the moment.
What really sucks is I don't know what to pack for my UQ. Thinking about pushing my 20°UQ for the 9° Thursday night since it will be much warmer the following nights. Decisions...decisions.

I'm planning Friday mid morning. Feel a lot more comfortable with forecasted temps.
I'll have a chain and shovel in my truck just in case parking lot becomes an issue for those with clearance issues. Chain only good for full frame cars tho.
