Yep, like Mrprez said, it's got more insulation in it than normal (sorry about your arm there...) What can I say? I live and camp in Minnesota in the fall/early winter. I needed it!

It didn't occur to me before that I might be misleading someone that their Potomac would keep them just as warm as mine. I don't want to do that, and I don't want Mrprez to have to do the explaining to pissed off customers because of me either.

At the same time, I'm pretty darn sure that I could take this into much lower temps without discomfort, or needing added insulation. Although the standard Potomac doesn't have the extra layer, I suspect that I could probably deal with less insulation in the same conditions as last weekend.

That probably doesn't apply to everyone. I'm a very warm sleeper, which is another thing to consider.

...Still... more layers or not, it will be my next hammock-gear purchase... looks so nice... Id need it to be black, military uses those camo colors and civilians aren't supposed to use them. Maybe green...

You're in luck. They're available with materials that aren't printed with camo.

I had heard that you're not supposed to reproduce military uniforms, but I didn't know that you couldn't use the same camo patterns. I also thought that the woodland camo pattern wasn't being used anymore by any of the branches of the military. Shows what I know.

Yes, but look at elcolombianito's location in the world. Colombia is pretty serious about their military gear with all the 'bad guys' running around the jungles pretending to be military when it serves their needs. Kind of understandable down there for them to be strict with that stuff.

Lightweight long underwear bottoms and a t-shirt.

I only left the bottoms on because I was lazy and wanted to get horizontal quickly. Normally I'd probably not wear the long underwear, unless it was actually really cold. I don't consider 27 degrees particularly cold.

I didn't notice that. That makes some sense.
