Great Pumpkin Hang, Mt. Cardigan, NH

This is to get the TR thread started. WHAT a GREAT hang! We camped spread out along a gorgeous stream with several small waterfalls. Sang us to sleep at night. Once again, more food than we could all eat!

I will post a more detailed report in a while, but wanted to get this thread started.

Many grateful thanks to ~ Reason ~ and her family for hosting this hang on their beautiful, beautiful property, and for being such gracious hosts to our group of hangers!

    Coupla shots for now:

~Reason's~. Take on a living Topquilt!

Sunshower and MP3Prozac hanging over a sluice waterfall.

REl@x out on the Grand Hammock Tour.

Many more (with stories!) to come!

I agree! A BIG Thank You To Cindy and Elliot for having us! Great Hosts indeed, and a spectacular location along the stream! I got home around 3, mowed the lawn, and just finished unpacking.

This was a welcome sight for the many that got lost (including me)

Everyone found really good hangin' spots including me. Unspoiled beauty as far as the eye could see.

It's a lot of work making donuts in the morning. A well deserved rest by the campfire for Skypainter.

The babbling brook. I'll bet everyone took this picture!
It was awesome to finally meet everyone, and put some faces to the avatars. Thanks to EVERYONE for a really good time. Now I need to get busy and borrow a "thread injector" to get ready for the next one!

Woooo Hooooooo, and thanks ~Reason~ and family. What a great invitation, love your spot and the new one too!

That is all, I am not much of a picture taker...but we had a great time in the woods. Camping and hiking. The nature call about midnight was a rare treat. Shooting stars...cooking...it was all great. Donuts, sugar, cinnamon..what is not to like.

I told Smokey, "I bet there are not many kids in your school who got to hear a pack chase and takedown, not only this weekend, but ever." I know it is not for everyone, but I always get a charge out of listening to their victory dance. The circle of life.

I need to see that moose now....it is a fairly good sized one.

What a view.....you are going to really enjoy that. I think I found about half a dozen sites on the way up that would be awesome....but yours is the best.

Thank you for sharing it with us.
If it moves, you can eat it. No promises you will think it tastes good.

Great Pumpkin Hang, Mt. Cardigan, NH

===> Klipspringer's wife (who had never hung!) showed-up on a crutch with a severely messed-up and broken ankle.

As we all know, the Piney Woods and hammocks have magical powers (like Lourdes). Dropping her crutch (which we hung on a tree, of course, she grappled two hiking poles, and managed to navigate very rough and primitive terrain like a trooper!

Needing a Trail Name, it was eventually decided that "HopsThuTrees" was the perfect name! Plus, she hung that night in a hammock!

    WELCOME. TO. THE. TREES!

===> Other random shots from the hang:

HopsThruTrees, (still with crutch behind chair), Veto65, and Klipspringer enjoying a chuckle at the antics of ~Reason's~ dogs.

Interestingly enough Sat night after midnight sometime, a pack of Coyotes created quite the racket as they found, then took down a Deer less than 100 Yards from where we were hanging. Didn't last very long, but the sounds in the night forest were amazing!

The five dogs we had camping with us must have been freaked out, because they did not bark or make a sound (why antagonize a pack of "Canine Hell's Angels?" ) LOL!

The next morning, my Son-In-Law went to locate the carcass with some of the kids. (No luck). He had also never slept in a hammock, and has terrible insomnia anyway. I set him up with a Warbonnet, and he slept 11 hours the first night, and 12 the second!

He was in the process of enlisting in the National Guard when the Govt shut down, so came along while waiting. He kept disappearing to explore the gorgeous woods. Seemed he was never around, but always showed-up when called, so his new Trail Name became, "The General", not because of his military demeanor, but because he was always in the general area!
    The General:

This was a great and fun hang!
