My second official HF hang is in the books! Looking forward to the next one! (However, sorry, Zilla & wife, I don't think it'll be the winter one in Maine, even as beautiful as that part of the country is blanketed in snow!)

Thank you, thank you to those that put in many hours on the computer, on the phone and in person/ driving to and from the park to make this all happen! Thank you to all the generous raffle donors as well! (Maybe next time we'll be a little more "lucky").

SilverPalm2x and I had a great time, taking a break from parenting responsibilities for the extended weekend and meeting many new people and seeing such a wide variety of hammock gear.

Regarding photos... Unfortunately, I don't have many people shots, as I was too taken by the fall colors of the trees/ leaves. However, I do have this one far-away shot of everyone starting to gather for breakfast and maybe the tour(?) Sat late morning. I'll include a photo of the top of the all-uphill climb to the tower, if you didn't make it up there, as well as a shot from the tower itself of the valley below.

    See you around the forums!

Well, thats alittle disapointing that we wont see you guys in january, but thats ok, we hope you and silverpalm2x can make the trip up to Pa for the spring swing in april.i should have my second group hang in by then and the spring hang will be all of ours third.
Very nice pics, you were right, we should have stayed the extra night but maybe next time, the hang was way too short and if my wife can get the extra time off in april we want to spread it out for atleast 4 nights 5 days.
Wont know until it gets closer but if you guys make it up maybe you can join us for the extra days.
Watoga was beautiful , WV did a great job making us feel welcome as did everyone that we met, one of the best weekends i have had in a long time, cant wait to do it again!

    Thanks from Watoga SP

Today I received the following note from Assistant Park Superintendent, Kelly Smith.
Thanks for your kind words and generous donation to Watoga State Park. We hope that you will consider Riverside Campground again for your future endeavors. Happy Hammock Hanging! Thanks again!
I'm proud of our state's enlightened attitude toward hammock camping, despite never having encountered it before.

SquirrelGirl, thanks for the photos. The mountain on the left in the fourth pic is the one I lived on for 8 years. The bump on the right is at the edge of the Cranberry Wilderness.

I'm looking forward to the group photo. Also, any videos this year?

A note on the fall color - without the usual cold nights, the red color wasn't pushed up into the leaves to mix with the yellow that was already there. I hope it's not going to be that way every year from now on. We usually have a much more brilliant display from the sugar maples.

I must admit that I am guilty. I was caught up too much in socializing to get out a camera and take any photos. The only thing I got was a short video while driving in through the national forest. With the direction the sun was coming through the trees, the leaves looked extra vivid. I will see if I can get it to upload to share.

WV, glad they welcomed us back. I would love to come back there and do some more exploration.

So many of our ugly mugs together made computer screens crack and hard drives shudder.
