In the boating section at walmart there is a product called "winch strap" made by attwood. These are designed to haul a boat onto a trailer so they have to be strong. It consists of a 20 foot piece of 2" polyester webbing with a large hook. The weave looks like it may be seatbelt webbing.
The cost is just under 10 dollars so if any diy-ers need some tree hugger webbing you might have a look.
