First of all....thanks to all for the great tips and ideas you provide!
Been thinking about joining one of the upcoming Midwest hangs but have never tested my gear in cold weather (up until last night I've always been a mild weather hanger). So last night I decided to test my setup and hang in the yard.
Low temp 25F with a light breeze.
Wilderness Logics Night Owl, blue Wally world pad with a foil windshield shade on top of it, 20F Northface mummy bag (slept inside it instead of as a top quilt), Kelty Noah's 12 staked directly to the ground (no guy outs). Pair of thick hiking socks, synthetic long underwear shirt and pants, fleece sweat pants, a light fleece jacket and a knit cap.
The results? Like the title says, snug as a bug. In fact I had to lose the hat and loosen my bag a little. Aside from just a bit of condensation under me, which may have been due in part to me being too warm, the night went off without a hitch (well except for that **** spooky screech owl and a group of coyote that kept running around my yard).
Thanks again for all of your tips and ideas!
