Nice! How do the innards look?
I may be dumb, but at least I'm ugly!
I've done so much, with so little, for so long, now I can do anything with nothing.
It's not peer pressure, it's just your turn.
Looks like a solid machine.
Have you ever used an industrial (clutch) machine?
Vroom, Vroom!
I think a lot of industrial machines use servo motors now - apparently an easy conversion.

that looks like a pretty cool machine. I recently got an oldie myself. You'll find lots of help here on how to operate it and take care of it.

I've had a similar Singer 16U288 for about 20 years now. It's a solid workhorse that will go through just about anything you feed into it without breaking a sweat.
Since I do mostly detail work (rather than long, straight stitches) I have mine geared down about 10:1 so I can take single stitches if need be. It's a little slow making things like tarps or quilts, but for me the trade-off is worth it.
The one thing I wish it would do is zig-zag so I could do bar-tacks, but it's a minor quibble.
That is a GREAT mochine! I have a 188K (looks exactly the same) that has paid for itself many times over.
Wish I could get my hands on one of those. Love the whole setup with the integrated table.
