If you'd have gotten the ok two weeks earlier . Just finished Hogpen Gap to Dicks Creek Gap. Hogpen to Unicoi Gap would be a good hike IMO. Mostly on a ridgeline with one big descent off of Blue Mountain. Easy overnighter or long day hike. Let me know when you get cleared fully, I'll be back up there this summer. Glad things are going great for you!!!!!

You're a short drive from Oconee State Park in SC. That's the western end of the Foothills Trail.

Shining Rock Wilderness area in NC is nice, scenic, and dog friendly. I was there last weekend with my son and we encountered many hikers with dogs. Lots of trails with good spots for tents and hammocks.

Boy, would I second that! And the Bartram starts two miles from the Foothills trailhead, right at the border of the park.

Not to get off topic, but whats up with Sparky? Looks like he has been backing up in the same spot and made himself a rut. Is he stuck in a rut? As far as where to go. Whats kind of terrain is your fancy? I don't know about shutting eyes and picking. Be my luck I'd hit NYC and have to do Central Park
