Cold feet

Just one more opinion !
I just received some Flame Thrower booties from Arrowhead Equipment !
If my feet are warm, the rest follows suit. At least you'll get what you want for Christmas !

Even with my full length underquilt, my feet were getting cold below 20 degrees. I ended up with AHE flamethrower socks and have never had cold feet again. I use a partial length underquilt now even when its really cold... as long as i have those down socks my feet are alway warm....

Edit: i should clarify it was mainly my toes that I noticed that I could never get warm :/

My setup now through winter (has been good down to 10 degrees so far for me)
15/20 degree top quilt (I have 2 that I go between)
Jarbidge partial legth (APEX upgrade) sometimes I add a 40 degree Te-wa quilt
or a hammockgear 20 degree overstuffed incubator


I am really wanting a JRB greylock 4 though!

It will be going down to 38 F tonight in Montgomery, AL. I will be under my super fly tarp with three doors closed. My quilts are Wilderness Logics, both rated to 15 F. I will have a second pair of wool socks and a sit pad in my foot box. I will be wearing a tech shirt and pants with a light fleece lining. I will wear a fleece hat that covers my ears. In a bag accessible to me from the hammock I will have a down jacket and a sleeping bag liner. Report to follow tomorrow night.

You should be just fine with your WL gear in those temps. I'll bet you end up pulling that second pair of socks off)))))

You mentioned having a cold butt as well. When the main core of you body is cold your body slows down blood to the hands and feet to maintain core body temp. So cold feet and cold butt both need solved.
Better bottom isolation via better pad/UQ and use of the hot water bottle will fix you up.
Another old saying is that 'if you want to stay warm, stay cool'. Over insulating can cause the early morning 4AM chills.

The weather man was right on; it was 38 F last night in Montgomery, AL. I was very comfortable. In addition to what I mentioned in my last post, I wore a pair of cycling knee warmers. My feet stay cold in the winter. I am sitting in my office at room temp and my feet are a little cool. My feet were cool last night, but not uncomfortably cold. No problems at all with my head, shoulders, core and legs.
