    Ideas for repurposing fleece throws

    I ran into a need for a costume accessory this Halloween, and I ended up with a $3 fleece throw blanket that has about a 8 inch strip removed from the side ( it ended up being a make-shift scarf ).

    Now I have about a 52" x 50" piece of fleece I can cutup for some projects, and I wanted to know what you guys could come up with.

    Some quick ideas that floated across my mind:

    * A small camp pillow ( maybe in the 11"x8" range ). I have some eggshell foam I think would make a good stuffing.

    * Mittens

    * sleep booties

    * actually use the scarf I made for the costume ... it's very warm

    * as the backing on a cheap nylon, polyfill, and fall/spring fleece top-quilt.

    A stuffsack with a piece of fleece added to one side makes a good pillow with a jacket/sweater/whatever inserted. The fleece can be on the inside if you want the stuffsack to do double-duty.

    I added a fleece draft collar to a sleeping bag once, and also lined the hood with fleece (warmer than slick nylon for me).

    Thanks, but not an original idea from me.
    I/we have an earlier version of this one from MEC.

    Underquilt for your indoor hammock.

    All of the other ideas are good too.

    I was thinking wristies too. I actually made two pair out of some fleece remnant from Joann Fabrics. Turned out really nice. Just waiting on the snow to fall to try them out. Just an fyi, if you do decide to make a pair make sure the fleece stretches across your wrist/hand. Makes it easier to put on.
