    Hennessy hammock fabric compares to...?

    Hello all

    I have a HH classic expedition. The fabric of the hammock body is not listed as rip stop nylon 1.0/1.1/1.8/etc etc, it is 210D Oxford nylon.

    So my question is what does their fabric correspond to in the common fabrics used by Warbonnet and Dream Hammock (probably all the cottage vendors)?

    Thank you.

    Check this discussion which may help:

    https://www.hammockforums.net/forum/...ad.php?t=16421

    In that discussion, Scott (diygearsupply.com) gave the following 'quick summary':

    Generally speaking, these are common conversions when talking weights and denier:

    200d = 4.0oz
    70d = 1.9oz
    30d = 1.1oz

    Hmm, good information.

    Not I'm really unsure what to get in a new hammock.

    Which would you prefer - to carry a few extra ounces/grams or worry that if you have keys in your pocket you will destroy your hammock?

    I have some 1.1 oz ripstop in my fabric collection and the idea of hanging in it is scary for me, but it seems to work for a lot of folks.

    Check with the vendor for advice?

    I agree having 1.9 over the 1.1 means a lot when you are in the back country and have another 3 days to get out and now a hole in the fabric. Remember that you do not always have the ideal place to hang your hammock, next to rocks, brush or close trees.

    thanks all for the information.

    I've contacted the manufacturer I think I'm going with.

    Kind of alarmed me a bit when I saw the comparison, really made me question if 1.1 DL would be alright for me (6'0", 205lbs).

    1.1 DL will be fine for you, I made a 1.1 SL and when I stared using it I weighed 195, never had any issues.
    I may be dumb, but at least I'm ugly!

    I've done so much, with so little, for so long, now I can do anything with nothing.

    It's not peer pressure, it's just your turn.

    At 6-2 275ish the WBBB 1.1 dbl worked the best for me, comfort wise. Seemed durable enough that I was not afraid to use it. I have a WBBB 1.7 dbl, 1.1 dbl, and a Traveler 1.1 dbl. Frankly the 1.7 dbl did not seem substantially more rugged. Looking at the WBBB XLC 1.1 dbl next for the little bit of extra length/room and better view.
