    FrankenSPE

Hi all...SeaElf here....new to hammock camping and I'm starting to get my stuff together so I can finally get out in the woods. My first project is nothing to brag about cuz it's kinda ugly but today I put together a SPE. The pad was from WM. Fabric was from D.I.Y. Gear. Size is 32"L X 30"W. I just sewed rolled hems top and bottom, then folded it in half and ran two rows of stitches along the raw edges....turned it rightside out, centering the seam. I placed the pad inside the sleave to get the dimensions of the wings. Then I just ran a row of stitches fore and aft to form a pocket. Did the other side. I'm 5'7" so I just cut three pieces from the end of the pad, 4" wide, one of the pieces I cut in half. These fill up the wings. I'm thinking that I can leave the pieces in the wings and then fold it up...the removed pad gets rolled. I'm sure I can find a place for them on or in the pack. Can't wait to try it. Reckon the hammock is the next project.

Looks cool. By the way, love the name "seaelf." My husband and I are aspiring sailors and hope to retire to a liveaboard someday. :-)

That's the life! Nothing better than being on a sailboat. Being in a hammock is a close second.

Before putting the sails on, I could hang a hammock between the masts!

We plan to do that next time we go out! (We don't own a sailboat right now, we are just chartering for now so we can figure out what we like before we buy and also saving up money).
