    New OES Tarp in SpinnUL

Just received my new tarp from Brian--it is a 10x12 in SpinnUL with extra tieouts (inspired by the one Mustardman ordered: http://www.hammockforums.net/forum/s...ead.php?t=7786). It is fantastic--huge (for double-hanging with wife). It weighs less than 19 oz. including stuff sack and tieouts. I am very pleased with it. As soon as I get hammocks back from ZQ (getting zippers installed) I will hang it and post pictures. Thanks, Brian!

i also have that tarp without the extra tie outs, it is awesome, I get alot of folks asking about the material, its crazy noisy when you first open it out of the bag but after some time it seems to quite down, you will enjoy it, congrats
i do not remember the question, however i believe beer is the answer

I am really pleased with the tarp (my wife and I double-hang under it). I never got around to taking any pictures, and my very old digital camera and very new computer aren't on speaking terms yet. However, I have used this tarp now a total of 9 nights on the trail, five of those in heavy rain, and three of the five with blowing rain. One of those nights was in a thunderstorm on top of Cheoah Bald, and the winds must have hit 40+ mph. I had the edge propped up with hiking poles for the view until the thunderstorm hit (another lesson learned). The two of us were holding the windward edge of the tarp down with both hands to keep from blowing away, until the wind died down a little and I could re-stake it. The lee edge of the tarp was flapping like crazy during the high winds, but no damage incurred at all. In all cases, we have managed to stay dry and our underquilts stayed dry. One night I did have to get up and re-position the tarp because the wind changed direction and picked up, but that was easily done. I am really glad I had the additional tie-outs added--when you are double-hanging it helps to have lots of options for tieing out the head-end of the tarp so you get good coverage and good run-off for rain (in other words, no place for water to puddle on the tarp). The noise of the SpinnUL has never been a factor--I don't ever notice it or even think about it. I would certainly recommend this tarp.

Glad to hear you like it. I, too, LOVE the extra tieouts. It lets me do all kinda cool stuff.
