Eureka Tent Footprint as a Tarp?

I'm taking my girlfriend and her 5 year old out with me next weekend so I'm trying to pick up supplies as cheaply as possible in case they hate it...

As we will be backpacking part of the AT, I'm trying to avoid carrying Walmart tarps basically. Trying to find lighter but also cheap alternatives.

Vermont's Barre has several sizes of Eureka's Floor Saver tent footprints on closeout. Does anyone have any experience with them? Would they work for a weekend hang for at least two nights?

This is what I'm looking at -

This answers my question - not really a yes or no, but I think I'll research some other basic plastic options for even cheaper.

This video is what convinced me -

My first tarp was a DIY hex made from 2mil painter plastic and strapping tape. Mine has been on a few weekend trips and survived a thunderstorm (and provided a great view while doing so). It's not small, or as light as sil, but it was cheap and lighter than the blue tarps.

If you watch the video, you'll get an idea of what to do.

I regularly us a kelty footprint as a second tarp.

Rigged in a diamond setup it provides adequate coverage.
A few weeks back, rigged in the A frame setup, it kept my nephew dry in some Vermont rain.

Yes it will work fine, just a little heavier than other tarp options but imho, better than a Wallyworld tarp. Picked mine up for $15a nd already had corner tie outs stitched on.
