Well i figured id tell you guys about it. Maybe give heed to someone else. I went solo camping 10/27. Out in Carver park Reserve on the west side of the Twin Cities. I was drinking water from the spigot at the front. I've gone camping here once before and did the same thing without issue. Also been drinking out of those things all summer all around MN.
Any who, i got sick. I got Cryptosporidium, not very fun. At first I thought food poisoning, but after a couple days of getting worse i finally went to the doctor. Got some test done and bam, parasite. Took me about 10 days do get better. Also the thing is there is no cure or anti-biotic for crypto, you just have to let it run it's course
So from now on i will be filtering or UV lighting my water where ever i get it from. That parasite can really mess with you and put you in a bad place.
Also, just wondering if anyone has had a similar experience drinking from spigots. I also assumed that the water there was treated but I guess i was wrong.
P.S. I have talked to the Admin of Carver park reserve and apparently i was the last official camper of the season and the day after i was there they turned off that water supply. So at least no one else will get sick.
