Your thread is the first looked at this morning. I tryed to setup a clark N.A. Last night in my back yard between to poles. Wind from 20 to 35 mph. How do you secure your hammock in such wind? Must solve that problem first.

If in the woods I'd move deeper into the trees.
In my backyard, I'd just go in the house and wait for a calmer day.

If you must hang in that kind of wind just get in and enjoy the free swing.

I live in Hawaii were there is not only wind but also rain...and yes it gets cold. My preference is to have a large cuben tarp such as the HG winter palace pitched low to the ground. This has been the only bomb proof solution to endure regular hurricane style wind and rain. plus my tarp only weighs 8 ounces and can fit 2 people comfortably underneath with lots of rain and wind. plus if you have a ground cloth you basically have a roomy tent with the hammocks out of the way. IMO this is the best and lightest setup. Plus I feel like the uqp would add "mugginess" to the already humid weather. If you are a weight weeny than absolutly go with a larger tarp with doors.
