    Question Has anyone tried Insul-Bright???

I saw this stuff at Joann Fabrics today and was wondering if it could be used for additional insulation with a HH SS, summer UQ or what ever.

Insul-Bright is needled punch mylar with polyester fibers on both sides. It is commonly use for oven mitts, insulation for lunch boxes. It states it keeps cold things cold and hot things hot.

Yes. It works well, but does not compress well.

I've played around with it. Here's my original thread with some pics. As Finn said, it does fairly well for the weight but it doesn't compress worth a crap.

    Thank everyone.
I might try it Just want someting to augment with the HH SS. It sound like I could make something to put between the hammock and the SS pad.

It is my main insulation in my special UQ that FF made part of....It basically consists of the insulbrite sandwiched between this stuff called thermadrape (look it up on the site) and aluminized dwr. I have taken it alone to mid 30s and could probably go lower but have always just thrown a pad in if its below that. Insulbrite is surprisingly light too.

Too bad - I could have sewn that in had you known you wanted it when I was making your UQ. I may sew a layer of insulbrite into my thermadrape quilt now.
