It's getting close to that time of year when people talk about freezing their butts, which means its time to start talking about smoking some butts. I present the 2nd Annual Smoked Butt Hang will take place in Durham, NC at Falls Lake Rolling View Group camp sites (same place as last year). The setup will be mostly the same as last year. There is the lake for paddling, trails for hiking, trees for hanging, and butts for smoking. We will hold a raffle (of dontated goods) to pay for site fees and firewood with extra going towards Friends of the Mountain to Sea trail for trail maintenance, and NC State Parks for park funding. Raffle tickets can be purchased for $10 per ticket up front via paypal or on site the day of. (paypal to [email protected])
So the 5 Ws:
Who: Anyone and everyone who wants to enjoy some good times telling lies by the fire, show off their setups, enjoy some fine porcine products (cans of pork brains in milk gravy nor ham hocks in a jar allowed) plus fixins, or has got nothing better to do than to hangout with some mighty fine friendly folks.
What: Hammocking and Barbeque (And hopefully some of those amazing dishes that others brought/prepared last year as well.) Perhaps a member of the South Carolina Contingent could bring a jar of the Mustard sauce, they all were asking for last year, to share with us "unrefined northerners".
When: May 2 - 4, 2014 (This is two weeks after Easter weekend, just happens to be the same as last year and seems like a good reference point each year.)
Where: Falls Lake State Recreational Area, Rolling View Group Campsite 4 Apparently I was bad on giving directions last year and a good number of people ended up going to wrong park entrance, my bad. But here are the coordinates to put into Google for the correct spot. 36.019039,-78.726387
Why: Because who doesn't love good food, good times, and great company? And we all had such a great time last year.
